Chrisman issues plea- ARE YOU OK?

Sat Mar 17 2012

In the small hours of this morning Tit Hall heartthrob ChrisMan was escorting a girl, believed to be from Clare, back to wychfield. Renowned for strength but found wanting for sobriety as he attempted to carry her on his shoulders, unfortunately she fell off, landing face-first into the pavement.

CHRISMAN SAYS: ARE YOU OK? (bro?)

Lacrosse

Tue Mar 13 2012

Last Saturday the Tit Hall lacrosse team entered into cuppers, the most heated lacrosse contest in the calendar. almost. The team demonstrated some great liquid lacrosse throughout the group stage in the morning, with a cheeky hat-trick from Jake Unwin in the first game and fierce midfield play from Rob Sills and James Horscroft. There was a great team effort, incorporating the usual motley crew as well as some great play from new recruits Alice Archer and Lara Orska. Tit Hall next played Christs in a mudfest match where the combined skills of Andrew Keep & LBB enabled us to grab a 1-0 victory.

In the semi-finals Tit Hall faced Jesus, the team with the largest amount of blue (tack) in the whole league. Solid defense from Ed West and good movement from Katherine, Ellen & Nick in the midfield enabled us to concede only 1 goal in the first half. In the final 10 minutes some great teamwork from late arrivals Philippa Edis and Jo Sears got Horsey within inches of the goal, but Jesus wouldn't let us get the points. One more goal from Jesus in the closing minutes sadly shut down the hopes of a Tit Hall final. This was nevertheless a great effort for the Tit Hall team, beaten only by the overall winners and conceding only 2 goals in the whole day. Here's one HUGE thank you to everyone who's played this year - let's hope we can show the same ball skills next year too.

Netball

Sun Mar 4 2012

On Saturday the netball 1sts were up bright and early for this years cuppers. With 25 teams entered, 5 in each pool there was strong competition, but we managed to win the crucial first match against Pembroke finishing 2nd in our pool after Downing (who actually train and warm up!). Fi was yet again to be found on the phone during some stunning performances against the 2 weaker teams in the pool, which gave us an ENORMOUS goal difference (thanks Bryony for that awesome shooting) allowing us to qualify for the next round in the afternoon. Sadly we lost to a strong Murray Edwards team with a rather good blues GA, but well done to everyone - a fun morning and 6th isn't bad!

On Sunday the firsts had their last match of the season against Homerton who were so keen they were happy to cycle ALL the way up to Wychfield in the rain. It was a competitive match, with the score even throughout and a little tense as, if Tit Hall won, we had a good chance at promotion to div 1. Thankfully Fi and Niamh were on top form in defence against their uni shooter and we came out victorious 22-16. Nice match to finish the season and fingers crossed for the results of the league.

Cuppers Skiing Results

Fri Feb 24 2012

Having come in the top 4 in the University for the previous 2 Cuppers competitions, the pressure was on to perform again. The first couple of opponents, Sidney Sussex and Emma 1 were easily swept aside. The third opponent, reigning champions John's proved to be a much tougher match, mainly due to their GB skier who caught up half the course to just snatch victory a couple of meters from the line. After another easy win and a narrow loss to the all star team CCCK the team finished second in the group, placing us in the semi final against Emma 11. Following some great skiing by all but myself, Bridget flew through the finish line just ahead of the opposition, securing a very respectable third place after Trinity and John's. Well race by all!

dCro Sponsorship Deal

Tue Feb 21 2012

Dear JCR,

We are proud to announce that as a committee we have agreed a mutually beneficial arrangement with dCro®. As you may have noticed we have been trialling a promotional deal with the conglomerate over the past few months and have found that this lubricates the, otherwise rusty, democratic process within the JCR community.

The deal will be wide-ranging and extensive. For full details please contact the bar manager but a summary of the most important changes is included here.

Henceforth the price of a dCro, the delicious combination of Jägermeister, Baileys and Sambuca will be halved to just £2.00. At less than 80p per unit of alcohol this represents the most economical beverage available in the college bar. Drinking analyst Kiran McCann described this as 'fantastic news mate'.

Other snap promotions will be available every night at the college bar. Please talk to the bar manager Wendy Larner for further details. She will be happy to assist.

We trust the JCR will feel this is a valuable use of the JCR's funds and time.
